The data contained in this database are the outcome of two rounds of fieldwork.
On the one hand, the corpus contains transcriptions of sentences, along with the corresponding
sound files, which were recorded during oral interviews made by our team in four villages in
Grecìa Salentina, namely Calimera, Corigliano d'Otranto, Martano and Sternatia in May 2013
and in August 2013. On the other hand, the corpus contains data collected by Valeria Baldissera
during fieldtrips in 2011 as part of her doctoral research. These data have no corresponding
sound file, but have been transcribed and enriched in a fashion identical to the one employed
for the data collected in 2013. In the database, they are notated with an asterisk.
Please refer to the two sets of data in the following ways:

The empirical domains we focused one are centered around syntactic structure and in particular the morphosyntax of the verb in matrix and embedded clauses. Individual words have been morphosyntactically tagged, and in addition the test sentences we used have been assigned syntactic keywords, which illustrate the phenomena investigated. The data contained in this database are thus searchable by word, tag, lemma, Italian gloss, location, test sentence and syntactic keyword.
